In Memoriam

A year ago today, a dear friend of mine who I met through the BBM online phenomenon passed away.

I guess that means it's been a long time. Brokeback endures in my heart and will for a long time. I have come to know some of the most wonderful people and I have already mourned the loss of one of them. For all this and more, I will always be grateful to this movie.

Today, I remember my friend Martin not in sadness (although I miss him terribly) but with gratitude, for I am thankful to have known such a wonderful person and honored to have been considered a friend.

10 Reasons Why Gay Marriage is Wrong

1) Being gay is not natural. Real Americans always reject unnatural things like eyeglasses, polyester, and air conditioning.

2) Gay marriage will encourage people to be gay, in the same way that hanging around tall people will make you tall.

3) Legalizing gay marriage will open the door to all kinds of crazy behavior. People may even wish to marry their pets because a dog has legal standing and can sign a marriage contract.

4) Straight marriage has been around a long time and hasn't changed at all; women are still property, blacks still can't marry whites, and divorce is still illegal.

5) Straight marriage will be less meaningful if gay marriage were allowed; the sanctity of Britney Spears's 55-hour just-for-fun marriage would be destroyed.

6) Straight marriages are valid because they produce children. Gay couples, infertile couples, and old people shouldn't be allowed to marry because our orphanages aren't full yet, and the world needs more children.

7) Obviously gay parents will raise gay children, since straight parents only raise straight children.

8) Gay marriage is not supported by religion. In a theocracy like ours, the values of one religion are imposed on the entire country. That's why we have only one religion in America.

9) Children can never succeed without a male and a female role model at home. That's why we as a society expressly forbid single parents to raise children.

10) Gay marriage will change the foundation of society; we could never adapt to new social norms. Just like we haven't adapted to cars, the service-sector economy, or longer life spans.

Repost this in your journal if you are for gay marriage.

Paul Hunter 1978 to 2006

Hunter passed away on October 9 2006, aged 27. He leaves his wife Lindsey and young daughter Evie Rose.

Paul Hunter both young and extremely talented, his passing will leave a huge vacuum in the world of snooker. I will never forget the 2004 Master's Final game between Paul Hunter and Ronnie O'sullivan, that captured my heart. There are very few public personna's who capture the hearts of the distant observer, for me, Paul Hunter was such a man. Thay say, 'Snooker is a game for gentlemen' ; Paul Hunter was truly the quintessential gentleman.

I have made many  friends in this fandom and I am grateful for that.  I have decided to more or less extircate myslef from the bigger picture.

I will still write and post. Far and between as I do now. :)

If you'd like to, leave  me a request and I will friend you so you can see my future updates. With friends it's always a joy to share.

I thank everyone, especially my friends at the DC forum for you have all made my life much richer over the past months.

Funny how recently, I lost a friend and through him I have now made new ones. I think sometimes we fail to see the bigger picture outside of our own issues. I like looking at the bright side of things so I'll look to new found friends instead of lost ones.

If BBM has thought me one thing, it's that we are responsible for our own moments of hapiness and of sadness. Ennis has tried to teach us all a lesson, to grab happiness where ever we find it. I hope I have learnt that lesson.
